Here's the thing shops don't always say: an A/C system is sealed. It doesn't consume refrigerant like oil. If it's low, there's a leak — maybe a slow seep at an O-ring that takes two summers to matter, maybe a pinhole in the condenser from road debris. Airflow. At speed, air rams through the condenser; at idle, the electric fan has to do it. A failed or lazy condenser fan, or a partially low charge, shows up exactly this way — cold on I-25, warm in the Powers Boulevard drive-thru line. Usually one of the cheaper fixes.
A/C work has a reputation problem — "recharge specials" that mask leaks, and compressor jobs that come back.
